We always carry out a full assessment before admitting anybody to Sunnycroft. But before we assess you, we’d like you to assess us. You can find pictures of the home and its daily life on our website and Facebook page to help you get the measure of us. We can also email or post you a brochure.
Once you have taken the first steps, we can show you around the home. You will need a rapid coronavirus test first, which will give results in 30 minutes. We would normally invite you to stay for longer and meet other residents, but that is not possible at the moment.
You can chat with Anna, our wonderful manager, for as long as you need to. She will answer all your questions and do her best to put your mind at rest.
If you would then like to take the next step, Anna will undertake a pre-admission assessment. This ensures that our staff will be fully briefed on the care that you need and, just as importantly, the things that you want to do for yourself. We will end up with all the information that we need to safely assist you from the moment you arrive.
A day of two before admission, we will arrange a gold-standard PCR test. Once we have the result, we will be ready to welcome you at the front door. We will help you to unpack, arrange your bedroom just the way you like it and introduce you to key staff members. Unfortunately you won’t be able to see their smiling faces at the moment because we are wearing surgical masks as part of our extensive precautions against COVID-19. But trust us, we smile a lot!
You will need two more coronavirus tests in your first week at Sunnycroft. Most people will be able to join in our activities and start making new friends immediately. Your family and friends are welcome to visit, either in our screened visiting booth or, after testing, in your bedroom.
If you have come from hospital or another high risk environment, you will need to stay in your bedroom for the first fourteen days. During this time we will make sure that you are regularly visited by our staff, who will take time to get to know you. Again, friends and family can visit in your bedroom after testing.
